Service of the rear shock absorber starts by placing the vehicle into NEUTRAL and hoisting it before proceeding. Install the rear axle jack stand under the U-channel section until the complete length of the U-channel enters the jack stand saddle to avoid damage. Installation of new lower shock absorber bolts and nuts requires a torque of 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.) following their application. First remove both upper components of the shock absorber bolts and nuts before tightening the new bolts and nuts to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.) during installation. Finish the procedure by following the reverse order of shock absorber removal. Using the same part number for suspension fasteners during replacement remains essential because inferior replacement parts and alternative designs will cause major service complications. It is essential to follow professionally specified torque values while assembling the components to maintain their proper retention.

Service and repair of shock absorber and spring assembly begins by taking out the assembly from the vehicle. Place reference marks on the mount and on the shock absorber unit and the spring so you can align them correctly during reinstallation. A suitable spring compressor should push the spring until shock absorber tension is removed. Follow the specified order of component removal while separating the strut from the spring assembly top shaft retaining nut by inserting a suitable pass-through socket wrench onto the strut shaft top retaining nut and placing a 10-mm six-point deep well socket on top of the strut shaft. Secure the retaining nut into position before you take off the strut shaft. Before installing a new spring verify its specifications by comparing the VC label spring code to the correct information. The reassembly process should be performed by reversing disassembly steps.

Use a suitable spring compressor to compress the spring until the tension is released from the shock absorber.

Tighten the lower bolt to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs).

Check the vehicle certification (VC) label for the correct spring code and convert it to the correct part number using Vehicle/Application and ID.

Ensure the rear axle U-channel fits completely into the saddle of the jack stand.

Begin by raising the vehicle on a hoist and removing the wheel and tire assembly.

Using lesser quality or substitute designs can lead to performance issues.

Push down on the front wheel knuckle while supporting it to avoid axle movement.

Using inferior quality or substitute designs can lead to significant service expenses.

Remove the wheel knuckle pinch bolt and push down on the front wheel knuckle until the strut and spring assembly is free.

Tighten them to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs).

Ensure the steering wheel is in the unlocked position and use the hex holding feature to prevent the studs from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer bar link nuts.

Tighten the lower bolt to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.).
