    Q:
How to service the upper cooling fan shroud on the 6.4L Diesel on Ford F-250 Super Duty? Posted by Customer
    A:
Draining the cooling system must be the first step in servicing the upper cooling fan shroud on the 6.4L Diesel. The next step requires extraction of the right-hand charge air cooler tube. First disconnect the electrical connection of the vacuum solenoid from it or from the upper fan shroud retainer. Subsequently remove the wiring harness retainer from both sides of the upper cooling fan shroud. Start the service on the upper cooling fan shroud by disconnecting the radiator-to-degas bottle hose from the degas bottle then remove the vacuum hose connector when present. After loosening the clamp disconnect the left-hand CAC tube from the turbocharger before tightening it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) retightening. The upper radiator hose must be separated from the radiator through disconnecting its spring clip while simultaneously keeping both components in proper alignment for new installation. Tear the coolant pump-to-fuel cooler hose from the power steering reservoir before removing the fasteners that secure the power steering reservoir to the upper fan shroud and fasten both components to 8 Nm (71 lb-inch) when reinstalling. Begin by disconnecting the radiator-to-degas bottle hose found at the radiator before unfastening the bolts accepting the upper fan shroud. The right-hand side of the part needs to be raised first to perform unattachment from the vehicle before tightening all bolts to 7 Nm (62 lb-inch). Last announce the completion of the installation by performing the removal process in reverse order.
