Slip Yoke

A proper workbench serves as the starting point for slip yoke repair work by placing the driveshaft there but avoid trapping it using a vise. The driveshaft slip-yoke service starts with clip removal of the slip-yoke boot clamps before extracting both the slip-yoke and boot from the driveshaft. Thoroughly check the boot for any signs of damage before proceeding to replace it. The inspection should start with checking the driveshaft spline lubricant as well as the slip-yoke's lubricant status. Both components need replacing if they show signs of wear or contain contaminations. To install the new slip-yoke boot clamp place it on the driveshaft stub shaft then insert the small opening of the slip-yoke boot onto the stub shaft. Use the Keystone Clamp Installer to secure the slip-yoke boot clamp after which attach the slip-yoke to the driveshaft through putting the boot end into the driveshaft while providing approximately 10g (0.24oz) of grease to the splines. Begin by placing a new large slip-yoke boot clamp then set the blind splines correctly before installing the slip-yoke. Measure the assembled driveshaft length from stub shaft weld to U-joint centerline before evaluating slip-yoke boot position in its groove and removing boot and slip-yoke surface grease. The slip-yoke boot needs air bleeding before using the Keystone Clamp Installer to secure the large slip-yoke boot clamp.
