How to service and repair the driveshaft slip yoke on Ford F-350 Super Duty?

The first step for servicing the driveshaft slip yoke requires vehicle driveshaft extraction while using proper workbench placement instead of vise clamping. Mark the slips of the driveshaft with an index and the stub shaft before eradicating the slip yoke boot clamps for removal of the slip yoke from the stub shaft. After removing the driveshaft slip yoke boot check its lubricant for grit and then inspect the stub shaft and driveshaft slip yoke for wear before conducting any necessary replacements. To install the driveshaft slip yoke boot you should insert roughly 10 g (0.36 oz) of grease then attach the boot clamp to the stub shaft followed by inserting the boot onto the stub shaft until it reaches the boot groove. Use the Constant Velocity Joint Boot Clamp Installer to place the boot clamp before coating the stub shaft with grease and securing the driveshaft slip yoke in position by aligning both indexes into the boot groove. Use the Constant Velocity Joint Boot Clamp Installer to tighten boot clamps on the slip yoke of each driveshaft after applying grease. Then remove all excess grease from the boot as well as the slip yoke before adding opposing boot clamps.

How to service and repair the driveshaft slip yoke on Ford Ranger?

Start by setting the driveshaft on a proper workbench with no vise clamp that could potentially harm the components during repairs of the slip yoke. The first step involves properly indexing the driveshaft alongside the slip yoke before clipping and throwing away the slip-yoke boot clamps to extract the slip yoke from the driveshaft. Check the slip-yoke boot for damage then throw it away if needed. Examine lubricant located on the driveshaft splines together with inside the slip-yoke for signs of contamination then check components for wear before replacing them if needed. When assembling the driveshaft fit only a new small driveshaft slip-yoke boot clamp onto the stub shaft before placing the smaller end of the slip-yoke boot on the stub shaft. The Keystone Clamp Installer helps in crimping the boot clamp while you install the slip-yoke onto the driveshaft. Fit 10 g (0.24 oz) of grease into the slip-yoke boot and apply it to the splines while pulling the boot toward the driveshaft. Use new position large slip-yoke boot clamp while matching index marks and place slip-yoke into position. The driveshaft assembled length specification must be set through stub shaft weld measurement to slip-yoke end point along with boot groove placement verification. All surfaces should be free from extra grease. To finish the operation bleed air from the boot then use the Keystone Clamp Installer to secure the large boot clamp.
