Service or repair of the Canister Purge Valve starts with removing the battery tray and disconnecting both tubes and the electrical connector. Disconnection of tubes from the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge valve requires caution because the present highly flammable mixtures create risks of personal injury. The EVAP canister purge valve along with its bracket needs removal by unbolting. The vacuum line must be detached from the EVAP canister purge valve before extracting the valve itself. The installation follows the removal process back to front but requires a leak test on the evaporative emissions system followed by the execution of the evaporative emission repair verification drive cycle to guarantee system functionality.

You must start servicing the evaporative emission canister purge valve by removing both bolts that hold the junction box bracket and setting the box aside. The canister purge valve requires the electrical connector to be disconnected first then the valve must slide off the mounting bracket to gain access to the vapor tubes. Remove both vapor tubes after disconnecting them and take out the canister purge valve. The installation process should be conducted by reversing all steps from removal. The evaporative emission repair verification drive cycle combined with the leak test for the evaporative emission system must be completed after installation.
