Stoplamp Switch

Service the brake light switch by keeping the brake pedal at rest throughout installation and avoid applying pressure to it nor pulling or moving it until the completion of stoplamp switch installation to prevent wrong adjustment and breakage. Start by pressing down on the switch plunger before turning the bracket because letting the plunger extend during removal will create damage to the switch. A clockwise turn of 1/8 turn on the stoplamp switch will allow you to pull it out from the bracket after disconnecting the electrical connector. Installation requires a reversal of the uninstallation steps with correct attachment of the booster push rod to the brake pedal.

Do not press or pull on or move the brake pedal when servicing the brake light switch because proper installation requires the stoplamp switch to be installed with the booster push rod connected to a resting brake pedal to avoid incorrect adjustment that could cause damage. First apply pressure to the switch plunger because the switch moves properly through the bracket when the plunger is compressed whereas attempting removal with an extended plunger may break it.
