Multifunction Switch

The first step for servicing and repairing the turn signal switch requires disconnecting the battery ground cable. Begin service on the turn signal switch by first removing the tilt release lever/handle. Press the upper steering column shroud sides to release it before you remove the three screws that also detach the upper and lower column shrouds. Reinstall these shrouds correctly at 2 Nm (18 lb-in). First disconnect three electrical connectors from the multi-function switch before removing the two screws securing it and tighten the screws to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) at installation. Execute the installation process by following the reversal of the removal steps.

One must begin turn signal switch repair work by disconnecting the battery ground cable. The first step in servicing the turn signal switch requires removal of the tilt release handle. Using a fingernail to press down on the sides of the upper steering column shroud opens it for access to remove three screws securing the upper and lower steering column shrouds. Reinstall these screws to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs). Disconnect the multicomponent switch electrical wiring harness before unscrewing the two fasteners which need to be tightened to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs) force upon completion. To finish the installation you must perform the reversal of all previous removal steps.

The initial step to service the turn signal switch is to uninstall the battery power. The ignition key unlocks the ignition switch lock cylinder while it remains in the "RUN" position to allow pulling out the cylinder using a punch to release the tab. First remove the tilt wheel handle and shank before releasing the three screws from the lower steering column shroud by pressing the sides of the upper shroud inward. You must pull off three electrical connectors from the multifunction switch before removing the securing screws on that switch. When installing the new component reverse all the steps from removal.

Service and repair operations for the turn signal switch begin with disconnecting the battery ground cable. After disconnecting the battery cable you should remove the steering column tilt release lever/handle. The service of the turn signal switch begins by releasing the upper steering column shroud when you gently press its sides then taking out its three screws before both the upper and lower steering column shrouds detach. Reattach these with a 2 Nm (18 lb-inch) torque setting during reassembly. Separate the three electrical connecters from the multi-function switch and take off the two screws to detach the switch while tightening them to 3 Nm (27 lb-inch) at reinstallation. The installation process ends by running in reverse the steps used for removal.

Position it to the RUN position, then use a suitable tool to push upward on the cylinder release tab while pulling the ignition switch lock cylinder outward.

Disconnect the three electrical connectors from the multifunction switch.

Disconnect the three multi-function switch electrical connectors.

Tighten them to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).

Remove the tilt wheel handle and shank.
