    Q:
How to Service and Repair the A/C Hose for the Auxiliary Evaporator Outlet and Inlet Lines on Lincoln Navigator? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair of auxiliary evaporator outlet and inlet lines on Expedition or Navigator vehicles requires the vehicle to be in NEUTRAL on a hoist before the recovery of refrigerant occurs. Service personnel need to disconnect the desired line at the specified points when working with one replacement line. Disconnect the auxiliary evaporator outlet and inlet line front fitting(s) by removing all necessary nuts then discard the O-ring and gasket seals. Start by removing the spare tire followed by the RH fender splash shield. Enter the opening within the RH fender well to extract the front auxiliary line bracket nut then the bracket itself. The service starts with removing the RH catalytic converter heat shield front bolt before unconnecting both rear fittings on the auxiliary evaporator outlet and inlet lines and discarding the O-ring seals. The rear fitting nut on RH rear wheel and tire assemblies for Expedition EL and Navigator L must be disconnected along with discarding gasket seals from the connection point. The muffler along with the spare tire carrier splash shield should be removed before taking out the muffler heat shield and the exhaust hanger followed by the removal of the RH catalyst monitoring sensor and the last RH catalytic converter heat shield bolts. Proceed to remove all the bracket nuts and also discard the brackets. Cut the selected auxiliary evaporator line only when installing one line to fit the new fittings. The middle parts of both auxiliary lines can be accessed through the RH rear wheel opening on Expedition EL and Navigator L vehicles. Implement the rear sections of auxiliary evaporator line(s) before using new O-ring seals to join the rear fittings. To install the rear fitting of Expedition EL or Navigator L vehicles connect the fitting after applying new gasket seal and tighten it with 12 Nm torque. The front portion of lines requires installation followed by front fitting connection with new O-ring seals and gasket seals which should be tightened to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Attach the fittings with loose connections before installing middle auxiliary evaporator line(s). Begin the installation at the rear position by screwing three auxiliary line brackets along with nuts until they reach 5 Nm (44 lb-in) torque. After proper fitting installation of lines you should check their alignment before making the necessary adjustments. Follow this procedure to reinstall the RH catalytic converter heat shield together with exhaust hanger and muffler heat shield as well as RH catalyst monitoring sensor and muffler. Use the RH fender opening to install the front bolt on the RH catalytic converter heat shield along with the front auxiliary line bracket and nut which should be tightened to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Reinstall the spare tire carrier splash shield together with the RH front fender splash shield and front wheel. To install the rear wheel along with tire on the right-hand side of Expedition EL or Navigator L. Conclude installation by fitting the spare tire and using the right amount of clean PAG oil to lubricate the refrigerant system and conducting evacuation and leakage checks followed by a refrigerant charge.
