After disconnecting the upper fitting from the EGR valve tube users should remove the EGR valve while throwing away the existing gasket. When installing the system you must clean both sealing surfaces before applying a new gasket because the EGR valve uses soft metal for its sealing surfaces. Since the EGR valve uses soft metals for sealing surfaces you must first tighten the bolts to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) and then turn them an extra 90 degrees. The procedure concludes by reconnecting the upper fitting of the EGR valve tube and reinstalling the brake booster bracket and engine appearance cover together with connecting the EGR valve vacuum hose.
