2000 Ford Mustang Shock Absorber Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the front shock absorber on 2000 Ford Mustang?
A: Start repairing or servicing a front shock absorber by hoisting the vehicle and taking off both wheel along with the tire. Starting with the front brake disc removal you must also detach the bolt from the ABS sensor before unclipping the wire from its bracket and removing the nut and bracket. Start by positioning a jack stand under front suspension lower arm (3078) since you need to remove shock absorber (18124) from spindle (3105) by unbolting and disposing both nuts and bolts. Lower the front suspension lower arm carefully before taking out the jack stand yet maintain the vehicle weight from resting on the front brake disc shield so no damage occurs. Lower the vehicle to reach the upper mount nuts and bolt before removing the shock absorber by discarding the nuts and pulling out the shock absorber itself. Place the shock absorber inside a vise while taking off first the nut then the front shock absorber mounting bracket (18183) and finally the sleeve and the bushing. Follow the same removal sequence while installing the parts with proper torque values followed by using new parts with equivalent part numbers to protect the suspension system integrity.
