2000 Ford Windstar Spindle Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the spindle on 2000 Ford Windstar?
A: The spindle repair procedure starts with hub uninstallation. You must start by taking out the rear brake anti-lock sensor after removing its bolt and subsequent removal of the sensor device. Remove the brake line bolt to disconnect its rear function then use a blocking mechanism. First disconnect the parking brake cable along with its conduit from the parking brake lever and then release the same connections from the backing plate by activating retainer clips. Move on to disengage the parking brake cable and conduit from the backing plate by separating them from the parking brake cable bracket. Drive out the four rear wheel spindle-to-rear axle nuts keeping in mind that their shank serrations maintain the brake backing plate and wheel spindle positions until they are fully removed. Disassemble the vehicle by removing the rear wheel spindle as well as the brake backing plate and all separated parts of the rear brake system. Gently pressing the four rear wheel spindle bolts enables separation between the brake backing plate and rear wheel spindle. The reverse installation process should be followed while also bleeding the brake system before completing the work. The proper retention of suspension components depends on using identical fasteners with the same numbers and applying the specified torque values during reinstallation.
