2000 Lincoln LS Evaporator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the evaporator core on 2000 Lincoln LS?
A: Leak testing should occur prior to the evaporator core removal only when there is suspected leakage. First separate the evaporator core housing from the system while disconnecting screws from the air inlet housing to evaporator housing with its mount. The disengagement of the clip enables you to separate the housings before removing the gasket. The evaporator core removal starts with extracting nine screws then unclipping the housing and eliminating the heater/evaporator core housing component. Crank out the fittings followed by taking off the thermostatic expansion valve. Reverse the removal procedure to install the components by applying PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil YN-12-C, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent WSR-M1C231-B oil to the O-ring seal before adding the correct WSH-M1C231-B amount of oil to the new evaporator core.
