2001 Ford Expedition Antenna Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the rear antenna cable on 2001 Ford Expedition?
A: The service and repair process for the rear antenna cable starts with taking off the RH scuff plate followed by the RH A-pillar lower trim panel removal. Service to the rear antenna cable can start with cable removal between the rear antenna and front antenna connections followed by disassembly of the RH rear door scuff plate and the RH rear quarter trim. To access the rear antenna cable connection in the headliner space users should lower the headliner enough, then remove the rear lead-in cable from the antenna cable. Begin by taking out the ground plate nut and then removing the ground plate itself and finishing with removal of the antenna cable ends. Because the antenna stays attached to the wiring harness as a single unit the old antenna cable needs its ends cut before taping the remaining portion to the harness for noise reduction. To install the new cable follow the opposite steps of removal and wrap or use wire ties to secure the cable to the wiring harness to stop noise.
