2001 Ford Ranger Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the exhaust manifold on 2001 Ford Ranger?
A: Start the exhaust manifold service by disconnecting both the battery ground cable together with the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. Begin by removing the air cleaner outlet tube then loosing the two nuts to create space for the transducer. Try to loosen the EGR valve connection at the exhaust manifold before separating it from the EGR valve and follow by disconnecting the three-way catalytic converter from its exhaust manifold position. The service requires front engine lifting eye removal with its supporting nuts before proceeding to discard the eye. Two studs and six bolts need to be uninstalled from the exhaust manifold before removal while you should discard the exhaust manifold gasket. Before mounting the gasket surfaces on the cylinder head and exhaust manifold you must clean them before applying a new exhaust manifold gasket. To reinstall the component follow all steps in reverse order while torquing the six bolts first to 20 - 23 Nm (15 - 16 ft. lbs.) followed by torquing the two studs to 60 - 80 Nm (45 - 59 ft. lbs.) over two separate stages.
