How to Service and Repair the Transmission Pan on 2001 Ford Ranger?

In order to repair the fluid pan, detach battery, elevate the vehicle and empty the transmission fluid. Take out the pan, dispose of the gasket and filter and wash the pan. Add a new filter and gasket, attach the pan, reattach the battery and fill with 3.7 liters of Mercon V fluid.
