2001 Ford Taurus Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2001 Ford Taurus?
A: Service and repair of the vacuum brake booster starts with disconnecting the vehicle battery. The service begins by taking off the breather tubes alongside the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and then moving to the throttle body outlet tube. Take away the engine air cleaner housing cover before placing it to the side. Start by removing the wiper mounting arm together with the pivot shaft before moving onto the brake master cylinder. The speed control module must be out of reach so begin by disconnecting the electrical connector and removing the nuts. Put the module and bracket in a position that is convenient for the maintenance work. First disconnect the manual control lever cable from the transmission range sensor (TRS) before removing the manual cable bracket nut then using a tool to remove the manual cable bracket bolts which enables setting the bracket aside. Uninstall the vacuum outlet manifold assembly while separating the check valve from it. Unfasten the nut before removing both the heater hose retainer and repositioning the hose out of the work area. Transfer the wiring harness away from the electrical connector retainers by keeping the electrical connector connected to its position. The procedure starts with unfastening two bolts to dismount the steering column opening cover. Follow these steps to disconnect the push rod: detach the electrical connector followed by the push rod retainer until you slide the push rod off its pin before removing the stoplight switch and washing the bushing alongside it. Brake booster removal ends with the disposal of all nuts before executing the basic act of extracting it from its place. The brake booster installation requires reversing the removal steps while performing an adjustment on the push rod with brand-new nuts throughout the reassembly process.
