  • Q: How to service and repair the upper intake manifold on 2001 Ford Taurus?
    A: The air cleaner outlet tube must be uninstalled first and then the hoses and clamps need removal for upper intake manifold servicing. The maintenance process starts with removing both pin-type retainers as well as the accelerator cable splash shield. You need to disconnect the throttle cable together with the cruise control cable and both Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connectors. Detach the throttle body stud as well as both EGR vacuums and their supply harnesses. The first step involves removing the positive crankcase ventilation (PVC) and evaporative emissions (EVAP) vacuum hoses before proceeding to disconnect the EGR valve vacuum hose and remove its nuts and bolts while taking out the valve itself.
