2001 Lincoln LS Cruise Control Servo Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the cruise control servo on 2001 Lincoln LS?
A: Service and repair of the cruise control servo requires starting with the removal of the engine cover if your vehicle has it. You must detach the speed control actuator cable end from the throttle nailhead through forward movement. Start by removing both the left front wheel and tire together with the inner splash shield. You must first put the speed control servo bracket assembly to the side anddisconnect its electrical connector before removing its bolts to unfasten the bracket from the speed control servo. First tey the locking tab on the speed control actuator cable cap before rotating it until removal is possible. Then disconnect the speed control actuator cable from the speed control servo pulley by using light force to push the retaining spring and remove the speed control cable slug. The speed control cable slug receives placement into the speed control servo pulley slot which must require complete seating. Move the speed control actuator cable cap tabs into their slots in the speed control servo housing while ensuring complete rubber seal placement beneath the cap. Complete the cap rotation to activate the locking tab before fixing the speed control servo bracket. After that, you should secure the bolts. First install the speed control servo bracket assembly followed by plugging in the electrical connector and afterward install both the LF inner splash shield and wheel along with tire. Users should install the speed control actuator cable end onto the throttle nailhead while reinstalling the engine cover when present.
