2001 Mercury Cougar A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the A/C Condenser on 2001 Mercury Cougar?
A: The HVAC condenser service begins with executing the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure. After vehicle lift and stabilization the splash shield must be removed from the radiator. Use plugs to seal both the air conditioning condenser tubes while disconnecting them from their positions. To take out the condenser you must detach it from its position on the crossmember then lift it up before pushing towards the grille while untangling the top mountings without harming the fins on the radiator. Install new O-ring seals which should receive refrigerant oil application before setting them into place and follow the steps of removal in reverse order. Apply the new air conditioning condenser with PAG Compressor Oil YN-12-C following Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B or its equivalent while conducting a check for proper air conditioning system functioning.
