Service and repair procedures of the upper intake manifold start with removing the engine air cleaner outlet tube followed by disconnecting the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connector to remove the IAC valve assembly. First remove the pushpin from the accelerator control splash shield followed by disconnecting the accelerator cable end and, in case of speed control actuation, also disconnect the speed control actuator cable end. Start the process by unhooking the accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable if present before taking away the crankcase ventilation hose and unplugging the spark plug wire holders. The twelve bolts holding the upper intake manifold in place must be removed in this step. Check the upper intake manifold gasket during installation while replacing it when needed. Install the upper intake manifold then tighten the bolts by starting at 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.) followed by 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). After installation of the spark plug wire holders replace the accelerator cable while also connecting the speed control actuator cable and attaching their final ends. Fasten the accelerator control splash shield in position by using a fresh pushpin. The IAC valve assembly reinstall occurs first followed by electric connector reconnection then completion with engine air cleaner outlet tube.
