How to Ensure Proper Functioning of the Oil Pan on 2002 Mercury Cougar?

In order to fix the oil pan, dis-connect the battery, heat shield, and other components. Empty the oil, take out the oil pan bolts and clean mating surfaces. Mount the new pan using silicone sealant, tighten bolts and replace components. Add Oil, reconnect the battery and check fluids.
