- Q: How to Service and Repair the Front Door Power Window Motor and Regulator on 2002 Mercury Mountaineer?A: Proceeding to service the front door window regulator and motor requires positioning the front door window glass to its midpoint open position. Service the front door speaker while removing both inside glass weather strip and watershield. Remove the clip from the lock rod at the handle assembly before placing the rod to the side. The glass assembly in some vehicles is fixed to the regulator by means of rivets requiring removal of bolts that secure the glass. Before disconnecting the electrical connector maintain the window at maximum height so the window glass stays in position. After disconnection of the regulator and motor assembly from the door frame users must extract it through the door opening. Installation must begin with placing the lock knob in its full unlocked position followed by reversing the removal steps when putting in the actuating rod.
