2003 Ford F-350 Super Duty A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the A/C Accumulator without auxiliary climate control on 2003 Ford F-350 Super Duty?
A: You should recover the refrigerant as the first step to service the HVAC accumulator when auxiliary climate control is not available. The service begins by disconnecting both the evaporator core outlet tube and A/C cycling switch connector with new O-ring seal disposal. Use an additional wrench for safe removal of the suction accumulator/drier. First dismantle the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor and bracket assembly of diesel vehicles by taking away its electrical connector and disconnecting the vacuum line followed by unfastening the nuts. Disengage the clamps to take off the intercooler tube as needed before removing the heater hose coupling from auxiliary heater lines beneath the vehicle. A necessary step applies to every vehicle which requires disconnecting and disposing of the manifold and tube assembly and O-ring seal and separating the evaporator inlet from its clip while removing the suction accumulator/drier by accessing its bolts. Reverse the removal steps by installing the new O-ring seals that received PAG oil lubrication followed by correct PAG oil lubrication of the refrigerant system. When putting in the suction accumulator use a back up wrench for safety reasons.
