How to service the thermostat housing on a 2.3L engine on 2003 Ford Focus?

Draining the cooling system marks the first step for servicing the 2.3L thermostat housing. Set the vehicle on a hoist at NEUTRAL gear position. The first service step is to remove the accessory drive belt from its position. The two power steering hose retention nuts need removal before setting aside all components including hoses and brackets. Afterward remove the cooling fan motor together with its shroud followed by removal of the four bolts attaching the A/C compressor that should safely be placed to the side. You can disconnect the thermostat housing hoses by rotating away the coolant hoses after releasing their spring-style clamps. You must remove all bolts to disconnect both the housing of the thermostat along with its embedded thermostat. Engine coolant must be applied to the O-ring of the thermostat housing before installation. The cooling system completion requires following the opposite order of removal steps followed by cooling system filling and bleeding operations.
