The service and repair process of the rear parking brake cable starts by releasing the parking brake control lever until tension in the parking brake system is eliminated. First detach the front parking brake cable and conduit upper section by pulling down the lever before inserting a 4 mm (5/32 inch) drill bit similar to a retainer. First disconnect the parking brake interconnect cable at its connector end by removing the locating hole then disconnect it from both the LH rear parking brake cable and conduit. The technicians must disconnect the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the LH parking brake rear cable and conduit at the parking brake cable equalizer before they can remove the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the parking brake cable bracket by compressing the parking brake cable clip. Start by detaching the LH parking brake rear cable and conduit from its position at the rear parking brake cable retainer followed by the separation of the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the RH hydraulic brake line clips. Detach the parking brake rear cable and conduit from their holding position on the brake line clip on top of the rear axle housing before unconnecting the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever.
