2003 Ford Ranger Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the radiator for the 2.3L engine on 2003 Ford Ranger?
A: Service of the 2.3L engine radiator starts by draining all cooling system fluid. First transfer the coolant overflow hose from the radiator then separate the upper radiator hose. Start the procedure by taking out the cooling fan then the shroud and afterward disconnecting the lower radiator hose. Remove the bolts before lifting the radiator directly with a backward tilt. Start by taking off three pushpins with the plastic cap that is attached to the top of the radiator channel. First arrange the three pushpins together with the plastic cap at the radiator channel top prior to installation. Carefully put the radiator inside the engine bay after which you should install all bolts. After placing the constant tension clamp where you removed it the first time install the bottom radiator hose to its connecting destination on the radiator. Inline installation of the cooling fan and shroud requires placing the constant tension clamp in its original position before you join the upper radiator hose to the radiator. Slightly raise the radiator into position then install the overflow hose to the channel located above the radiator. You should fill the cooling system but stay away from the engine cooling fan blade while revving the engine. Checking for any leaks in the hoses and connections makes up the final step after several minutes of engine operation.
