2004 Ford E-150 A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC System on 2004 Ford E-150?
A: The process for servicing the suction accumulator in the HVAC system starts with refrigerant recovery before disconnecting the battery then continuing with removing the battery and battery tray while removing their bolts. An appropriate placement of the washer reservoir filler tube becomes possible after screw removal. Apply a wrench to both sides of the fitting to stop twisting the refrigerant line while you should discard the O-ring seal when disconnecting. Drivers without auxiliary A/C should detach the compressor manifold and tube suction fitting by unscrewing its screw then uninstalling the connection while discarding the O-ring seal. Installation of auxiliary A/C vehicles requires users to remove the screw then disconnect the spring lock coupling by discarding both O-ring seals. The suction accumulator needs to be removed following disconnection of the A/C cycling switch electrical connector through bolt removal. Follow the reinstallation sequence backward then place new O-ring seals that received clean mineral oil lubrication on the required components while using correct amounts of clean PAG oil to lubricate the refrigeration system. The refrigerant system requires evacuation along with leak testing which is followed by charging procedures. The R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals need only be lubricated by Refrigerant Compressor Oil F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) whereas PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent WSH-M1C231-B compliant oil functions as A/C compressor lubrication. Replacement of the suction accumulator is necessary only when you observe physical evidence that originates from a failed A/C compressor or suction accumulator damage.
