The caliper bores should not be honed because replacement pistons do not exist for honed bores and severely corroded or scored bores require a new installation of the disc brake caliper. Always install fresh parts for assembling calipers because both pistons and dust boots need replacement and avoid returning drained brake fluid into the system. Clean brake fluid will serve as lubrication for installing caliper pistons through the piston boot and caliper piston then piston seal and caliper bores. Begin assembly by placing the piston seal first before installing the piston boot onto its corresponding position without causing harm to the piston seal. The caliper piston must be inserted carefully while maintaining an uncrowned position as you set the boot inside the bore before pressing the piston forward. The piston boot retainer should be installed together with the disc brake caliper.
