Replace all caliper piston seals when a leakage occurs and discard the entire unit if you find excessive bore surface damage or corrosion. The assembly procedure requires new piston seals and dust boots with replacement of any brake fluid which saturated or stayed open overnight. Use DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid to lubricate the piston boot together with the caliper piston and piston seal and cylinder bores. When installing the caliper piston seal and boot keep the seal free of damage to avoid unintentional dislodgment from the caliper piston. Seal both ends of the caliper bore before pushing the piston inside without extending it. Replace the disc brake caliper afterward.
