2004 Ford E-250 Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2004 Ford E-250?
A: Start service and repair procedures on the throttle body by first ensuring safety by avoiding open flames and smoking near fuel-related components because flammable mixtures exist within them. First disconnect the battery ground cable then remove the engine cover after taking away both the air cleaner assembly and air cleaner outlet tube and accelerator cable splash shield. As part of throttle body control removal one must disconnect the accelerator cable and speed control cable if present together with removing the throttle control return spring. The procedure continues with removal of the throttle position sensor electrical connector. A drain of the engine cooling system followed by disconnecting coolant hoses is required for 5.4L engines. The bolted throttle body requires removal before you replace its old gasket. To install the throttle body first apply a new gasket and position the throttle body before tightening four bolts in step one to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) then 90 degrees. Repeat the process to restore the coolant hoses on 5.4L engines and perform the engine cooling system fill-up and bleeding procedure. Connect the electrical connector for the throttle position sensor while reinstalling acceleration cable and speed control cable when present and the throttle control return spring. Reassembling begins with uniting the air cleaner assembly with the air cleaner outlet tube and accelerator cable splash shield before you add the engine cover and reestablish the battery ground cable.
