The servicing of supplemental restraint systems requires a complete back up power supply drain through a battery ground cable disconnect followed by one-minute waiting time and authentication of all auxiliary battery disconnection. The driver air bag module electrical connector can be accessed by disconnecting it from the Clock Spring while the diagnostic tool 418-F468 should connect to the Clock Spring side. The.protective device 418-F468 should be connected to the harness side while disconnecting the passenger air bag module electrical connector. A tool 418-F470 should be attached to disconnect the passenger side air bag module connector that is located beneath the front seat when side air bags exist. The driver seat contains both a driver side air bag module connector and driver safety belt buckle connector where a tool 418-F468 should be applied. The procedure for deactivation ends by reconnecting the battery ground cable. When performing battery ground cable reactivation the vehicle utilizes a back up power supply to drain for one full minute while disconnected from the cable. All tools used for diagnostic testing need to be detached from their connectors prior to reconnecting both air bag modules with the battery ground cable.
