2004 Mercury Mountaineer Blend Door Actuator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the right-hand temperature blend door actuator for the Dual Automatic Temperature Control (DATC) on 2004 Mercury Mountaineer?
A: When repairing or servicing the right-hand temperature blend door actuator for DATC systems it is mandatory to disable the SRS first. The service starts by taking off the A-pillar trim panels on both right and left sides and the cowl panel grille afterwards. Service the instrument panel defroster grille by pulling it upwards with care until you reach the sunload sensor electrical connector which should remain undamaged. From outside the vehicle detach the instrument panel bolt but leave it slightly loose to enable movement of the right-hand instrument panel side from the dash panel. Attach proper support to the instrument panel before any operation to avoid harming wiring and components and use only adequate strength during instrument panel maintenance. Secure the instrument panel by using threaded rods and equivalent pieces which should correspond to the bolt diameter and thread pitch specification. Regarding the instrument panel support bolts you must first implement suitable strapping before gently tugging the instrument panel backward from the dash panel. The reverse steps from removal need to be performed for installation.
