2005 Ford E-250 Vehicle Speed Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Vehicle Speed Sensor for the Turbine Shaft and Intermediate Shaft on 2005 Ford E-250?
A: Service procedures for TSS Sensor and Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensors should begin by setting the vehicle in NEUTRAL gear on a hoist. Support the transmission through use of an appropriate high-lift transmission jack. First disconnect the two wire harness retainers mounted on the rear crossmember and position the wire harness to the side. The technician must begin by removing the LH crossmember nuts along with the LH crossmember bracket and proceeding with the removal of the RH crossmember nuts and the RH crossmember bracket. Unscrew the combination speed sensor electrical connector after lowering the transmission to properly reach the TSS and intermediate shaft speed sensors. The sensor area should be free of contamination so you can remove this sensor by detaching the bolt. The O-ring should receive lubrication before you install the new combination speed sensor by using its bolt to secure it. The electrical connector should be reattached while the transmission and crossmember need to be raised back into position. Once in position both LH crossmember bracket and RH crossmember bracket need to have their nuts installed followed by reinstallation. The wire harness should be repositioned while you secure it with the retaining clips installed at the crossmember rear.
