The first step involves disconnecting the battery ground cable while removing the starter solenoid terminal cover. When removing the starter solenoid wire nut secure it with a 5 Nm (44 lb-in) torque value while setting the wire to the side. Take the starter solenoid battery cable nut off and place it away while reattaching it with 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) torque. The wiring harness retainer should be removed first followed by the removal of the ground strap nut then putting the strap aside while reinstallation should include tightening the strap to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft). Start by uninstalling the two starter motor stud bolts and then make a preliminary tightening of the upper and lower bolts before torqueing them to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). The installer should first remove the starter motor bracket bolt along with the starter motor but should tighten the bracket bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) before reinstalling it. To finish the installation proceed with the opposite steps of removal.
