How to service the thermostat and thermostat housing on 2005 Ford Expedition?

The servicing of the thermostat and thermostat housing requires a cooling system drain as the first step. After removing both bolts which secure the thermostat housing along with the thermostat dispose the O-ring seal. The mating surfaces need thorough cleaning with metal surface preparation. Place the new O-ring seal inside engine coolant then install it onto the proper position. The installation should be completed by following the removal steps in reverse order while tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).
