How to service and repair the Transmission Pan and Automatic Transmission Filter on 2005 Ford Explorer?

In order to service the automatic transmission fluid filter, lift the vehicle and empty the fluid. Wash the reusable gasket and take away the fluid pan and old filter. Install the new filter including lubricated seals, reassemble the pan using screws that are tightened in a crisscross fashion and fill the transmission.
