The brake caliper piston bores should not be honed because severely damaged or corroded bores require a complete replacement of the brake caliper. Throw away the piston seals together with the dust boots. The assembly procedure requires brake fluid for lubricating brake caliper pistons, dust boots and each cylinder bore along with piston seals. Add the piston seals together with dust boots before inserting the brake caliper piston. Reinstall the brake caliper after you install the bleeder screw and bleeder screw cap while torque the screw to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). The use of only DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid is necessary to protect brake components and all brake fluid spills need immediate water-based cleaning from painted or plastic materials.
