Start by disconnecting the battery ground cable then retrieve refrigerant before removing the air cleaner along with the A/C compressor. The service begins with removing electrical connection from the A/C pressure cut-off switch and releasing the A/C manifold and tube from the core of the condenser while discarding the O-ring seal. Use a new O-ring seal which should be coated with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or its equivalent that fulfills Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B during installation. The A/C manifold and tube spring lock coupling must be detached and the installation process requires new O-ring seals lubricated with the same material. The vehicle must first be raised then the bolt needs removal to separate the A/C manifold and tube before lowering the vehicle for complete assembly removal. During new A/C manifold and tube installation always move the A/C pressure cut-off switch to the fresh system component. The procedures for evacuation and testing along with charging of the A/C system must be completed.
