How to service the muffler on 2005 Ford Mustang?

The service process begins by hoisting the vehicle at NEUTRAL position for installation. Disconnect the muffler inlet pipe from the catalytic converter assembly by loosening the Torca coupler and discard the Torca coupler while disconnecting. Detach the muffler by removing it through the muffler isolators. When installing the muffler you must tighten it to 17 Nm (13 foot pounds). The process starts by detaching the muffler from the intermediate pipe while loosening the muffler clamp. Then insert the new muffler into the isolators. After securing a new muffler clamp onto the intermediate pipe users should connect it to the muffler. Install a new Torca coupler on the intermediate pipe while bringing it close to the catalytic converter until the converter button securely fits into the muffler notch. Install the exhaust clamp in a position that reaches up to but does not exceed the bottom of the notches while tightening it to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Pull the muffler forward to secure the pipe inside the coupler while checking that the intermediate pipe sits properly within the coupler structure with the knurled section positioned at the outer lip. Follow the sequence of tightening coupler nuts in 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) increments until final torque reaches 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
