2005 Ford Ranger A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Condenser Core on 2005 Ford Ranger?
A: Recovery of refrigerants must be the first step when servicing or repairing the condenser core. The service begins with removing the air cleaner outlet tube before disconnecting the compressor manifold combined with tube assembly from the compressor-to-condenser discharge line. Maintaining both O-ring seals for disposal. After the condenser-to-evaporator line disconnect you should remove the compressor-to-condenser discharge line from the condenser core while discarding the O-ring seals. The screws need removal to achieve adequate radiator tilt before the device can be dismantled of pin-type retainers and top seal. Preventing the radiator from misdocking requires unmounting the radiator from its mounting saddles because the condenser core requires space for the installation process. Disassemble the condenser core by removing its screws then removing the core itself. The installation requires use of new O-ring seals that have been lubricated with clean mineral oil or equivalent while also calling for correct PAG oil amount (F7AZ-19D589-DA, Motorcraft YN-12-C) to lubricate the refrigerant system. The last step includes evacuating the system for testing before refrigerant is charged into the system. The designed purpose of refrigerant compressor oil based on F73Z-19577-AA specification (Motorcraft YN-9-A) remains the sealing lubrication of R-134a refrigerant systems yet it should not develop into a compressor lubricant which must include WSH-M1C231-B standard PAG material. Before discharging the condenser core the technician must conduct a leak test and a new suction accumulator becomes necessary only when there is confirmed system contamination caused by either a defective A/C compressor or suction accumulator damage.
