2005 Ford Ranger Wiper Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the windshield wiper motor on 2005 Ford Ranger?
A: Service of the windshield wiper motor begins with positioning the wiper blades straight up and disconnecting the ground cable from the battery. First disconnect the electrical connector from the windshield wiper motor and then remove the right-hand access cover by removing its screws and discarding it. Unsnap the wiper motor clip from the right-hand mounting arm and pivot shaft through the opening before disconnecting the right-hand windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft from the left-hand mounting arm and pivot shaft by moving them both away from the windshield wiper motor. You should detach the windshield wiper motor after removing its stud bolt and bolts. When installing keep the mounting arm and pivot shaft retainer clip completely seat onto the motor crank pin to prevent damage to the components. The left-hand mounting arm and pivot shaft should be installed on the motor before the right-hand mounting arm and pivot shaft and the removal steps should be run in reverse to finish the installation. The windshield wiper motor becomes non-repairable when damaged or worn out hence requiring replacement.
