How to service and repair the brake backing plate on 2005 Ford Taurus?

In order to service the brake backing plate, one should remove the brake drum, disconnect the parking brake cable and remove the wheel cylinder. Unattach the cable to the backing plate, and detach the ABS sensor and backing plate bolts, and then get rid of them. To install, undo all the steps with fresh bolts.
