A technician should start brake backing plate maintenance by removing the brake drum before disconnection of the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever. Following wheel cylinder removal the technician should unclip the parking brake cable along with conduit from the brake backing plate before routing them out of the backing plate. Reinstall the wheel speed sensor bolt to its specific torque value of 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.). The wheel speed sensor must be removed from the backing plate while setting aside the four backing plate bolts to be replaced with new ones for proper reinstallation by torquing them to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.). The installation ends by carrying out backwards steps from the removal process.
