2005 Lincoln LS Fan Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the radiator cooling fan motor and shroud on 2005 Lincoln LS?
A: The service of radiator cooling fan motor and shroud starts with disconnecting the battery cable ground. Start the radiator cooling fan service by first removing the air cleaner outlet pipe followed by disconnecting both electrical connectors for the cooling fan motor and shroud as well as disconnecting the coolant control valve jumper harness electrical connector. The receiver/drier bracket bolt needs removal followed by bracket placement aside and it should be tightened to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.) during reassembly. Detach the electrical connector of the coolant control valve before unscrewing its retaining bolt and reinstall it at 6 Nm torque (53 inch lbs.). The two bolts securing the auxiliary coolant pump should be removed while following installation the correct torque is 9 Nm (79 ft. lbs.). The cooling fan motor with its shroud needs two bolts removed before installing but they must be tightened to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) force. To finish installing the component reverse the removal sequence in its entirety.
