- Q: How to service the Water Pump on 2005 Lincoln LS?A: Service of the coolant pump begins with draining coolant from the system while removing the thermostat housing. Keep the coolant pump pulley bolts loose while they remain in their position and then detach the accessory drive belt from the engine. Change the three pulley bolts of the coolant pump and before reattachment apply a torque of 10 Nm followed by another 45 degrees of rotation. Disassemble the coolant pump by taking out its five securing bolts while discarding the aging gasket for the pump. To install the new coolant pump, first apply torque to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.) then continue rotating the pump by 90 degrees. Use a new coolant pump gasket in performing the reinstallation steps by following the inverse process of pump removal. The cooling system completion requires filling and bleeding procedures.
