An initial step for servicing the thermostat housing starts with draining the cooling system. First disconnect the auxiliary coolant pump hose which leads to the thermostat housing then position it safely away. You should remove the two bolts from the lower radiator hose support brackets while tightening them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) when reinstalling them. After disconnection of the lower radiator to thermostat housing hose you should set it out of the way. The procedure starts with removing three bolts that keep the thermostat housing in place while discarding the used O-ring seal of the housing. The installation procedure requires bolt torque setting to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) and the addition of new thermostat housing O-ring seal that needs clean engine coolant lubrication. To finish up complete the cooling system by doing a filling and bleeding process.
