2005 Lincoln Navigator A/C Expansion Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Expansion Valve in the Air Conditioning System on 2005 Lincoln Navigator?
A: The first step to work on the air conditioning system's thermostatic expansion valve involves refrigerant recovery together with negative battery cable disconnection. On the next step you need to remove the powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connectors and its securing bolts and PCM bracket mounting points. The procedure calls for removing the fitting bolt of the thermostatic expansion valve followed by disposing the O-ring seals. Next follow by removing the thermostatic expansion valve mounting bolts and you should discard the O-ring seals twice. The installation requires following the removal steps backwards with new O-ring seals and cleaning the refrigerant system with proper amounts of PAG oil. The process ends with evacuation and refrigerant system leak testing and charging.
