- Q: How to Service and Repair Automatic Transmission Shift Levers for the Floor Shift on 2005 Lincoln Navigator?A: The first step to work on floor shift automatic transmission shift levers service involves removing the floor shift PRNDL trim plate. The small flat-blade screwdriver enables bezel removal from the shift knob. Proceed by removing the two screws that fasten the shift lever knob and then detach the knob while sliding the knob button out. Separate the spring from the top of the shift handle while placing the window regulator control panel in an appropriate location. First dismantle the console finish panel before removing the left side console access panel along with it. Use a screwdriver to disconnect the transmission shift cable from the transmission shift arm as you remove the retaining clip from the console access point of the floor shift mechanism. Remove the four floor shift mechanism nuts securing the device to the floor then extract the three bolts fastening the upper shift bracket to the console. After that step remove all three floor shift mechanism bolts. Unfasten the bolt located in the console access panel section of the shift mechanism that remains in the upper shift bracket. The floor shift mechanism wire harness connector must be disconnected before the technicians extract the floor shift mechanism from its console position.
