2005 Lincoln Town Car Control Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: What precautions should be taken before servicing the lower control arm on 2005 Lincoln Town Car?
A: The repair process requires electrical power cutoff from the air suspension system to avoid pressure changes in air springs that might shift the vehicle during work. Take off the wheel along with the tire assembly first. Activate the studding function to stop rotations before you remove the fastener then dispose of it. After removing the nut there is a subsequent flag bolt which also needs removal before discarding the nut. The cam bolt should not be removed at this time because removing it may damage the steering bellows boot. Discard the nut instead. After discarding bolts and nuts you can take out the studs before raising the steering gear to reach the cam bolt. Extract both the cam bolt together with the lower arm from the system. After fitting the new lower arm users should keep the cam nuts and bolts lightly fastened before finishing the installation and placing vehicle weight onto the wheel assemblies. The front end alignment should be performed when installing a new lower control arm followed by tightening the bushing retaining nut.
