2007 Ford Escape Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Ford Escape?
A: The first step for treating the vacuum brake booster requires killing the battery power. New master cylinder nuts should be installed then remove the two original nuts before disposing of them. New master cylinder nuts must receive a torque setting of 30 Nm during installation. Service the brake master cylinder by positioning its assembly in front of the original position but without removing the brake tube fittings. Disconnect the brake booster from the vacuum hose/check valve assembly. The stop lamp switch must always be detached first before the speed control deactivator switch while making sure the brake pedal is connected to the brake booster push rod and positioned at rest to safeguard both switches. A technician should first detach the stop lamp switch followed by any present speed control deactivator switch. The first step is to take off the push rod pin redundant clip from the brake booster followed by the self-locking pin coupled with the outer bushing. The technician should slide off the brake booster push rod from the brake pedal pin before putting it aside. When installing the brake booster tighten the four nuts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) steadily. The installation of both the stop lamp switch and speed control deactivator switch must be delayed until after installing the brake booster and brake pedal because the brake pedal arm must be fixed to the brake booster push rod while at-rest before switch installation to prevent improperly adjusted or damaged components. The installation should occur in the opposite sequence of removal steps.
