2006 Ford Expedition Rear Crossmember Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Rear Crossmember on 2006 Ford Expedition?
A: Start vehicle servicing of the rear cross-member by elevating the vehicle then supporting it in place. Move ahead with skid plate fastener and skid plate removal only when they are applicable. Start the service by taking out the fasteners from the left-hand and right-hand exhaust heat shield that connects to the crossmember and continue by loosening and retightening the two transmission mount nuts to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft). Mark the position of the transmission crossmember on the frame bracket that it will occupy after installation for correct reinstallation position. The four transmission crossmember bolts should be removed together with the crossmember before tightening the bolts to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft) during reinstallation. The installation will end through executing the reverse order of removal steps.
